Ha Alexandra,

Apologies, I did not mean to call you an idiot (or anyone else). Just visiting more than 2 museums a day seems really a lot to me. I have a very blunt style of writing, you're right to mention it's not elegant. To explain: I was pouring over the Oslo Pass for a long time to see if it was worth it, but felt really ripped of. If you aren't doing at least 2 museums a day, and then in 2 consecutive days, you will not get your money's worth out of it.

To give you an example, say I wanted to visit Munch and National, Kon-Tiki and Fram (4 musea in 2 days), tickets for 2 adults would add up to 360 (munch, kids are free), 280 (kon-tiki), 400 (national, kids free), 280 (fram). In total 1320 NOK + transport, Ruter single tickets 42 adult. For the Oslo Pass I would need the 48h pass (24h only if you do one day late afternoon, other one very early morning, which seems not great to me), per adult it's 760 NOK, total 1520. If you would add Kids pass (very expensive as so many musea are free for kids), add another 380 per kid. Total 760 + 1520 = 2280 NOK
Also, you cannot reserve a time slot with Oslo Pass, Munch for example has often special events, you don't know how long you have to wait.

It just bugged me that they made it seem like a really good deal, but you have to do AT LEAST 3 museums a day be better off. Also, one of the popular museums in general, the Viking Museum, is not free, but only a discount.

regards,

And if you would have really read the post you would have noticed that I said it's worth if you're planning a "museum marathon" and considering at least 3 days. :)

Well, I went the 'idiot' way and visited 4-5 museums a day because I don’t spend too much time reading every single poster. Some of us prefer to make the most of our time when we’re in a city for a short visit. Not everyone has 10 days in Oslo to do one museum per day, and not everyone is traveling with kids.

Calling people idiots for choosing the way they want to plan their visit is not really fair or elegant.

This post reflects my personal experiences and opinions. And the actual experience really depends on your travel style and plans. Everyone’s travel style is different, and that's okay. I'll consider updating the post with your suggestions.

Might be a good idea to update this post.
The Oslo Pass is NOT worth it, unless you hop into museums like an idiot (no one I know enjoys visiting 5 museums in 24 hours while taking public transport like a crazy person) and as the pass is time limited, and you HAVE to also go the next day, to get your money's worth.

Ruter tickets are way cheaper, if you visit 1 musuem a day (even ferry included, public transport) etc. you are paying way too much with Oslo Pass.
And importantly, kids Oslo Pass is a complete ripp-off, as a LOT OF museums have free entrance for kids (till 17).
